Senior Acoustic Consultant - Birmingham

One of the UK’s large multidisciplinary organisations with expertise in engineering consultancy for the built environment urgently require a Senior Acoustic Consultant with a strong background in architectural acoustics to assist with workload in Birmingham. The company possess a strong and challenging portfolio with clients ranging across the public and private sectors including central and local government, major financial and retail companies, manufacturers, utilities, and other blue chip companies. Successful applicants will lead acoustic design across a broad range of market sectors including buildings for performance, airports, convention centers, hotels and high quality residential.

Salary:- Dependent on experience

Qualifications:

A strong first or higher degree in acoustics, ideally combined with science, architecture, construction management or engineering studies at graduate or post graduate level. Membership of the IOA or equivalent body is strongly desired for this role.

Duties

Provide consultancy and design covering all aspects of built environment development, but biased towards building fabric and building engineering systems.
Preparation of technical and financial input to proposals for acoustic design.
Providing a point of contact on acoustics and vibration issues and developing both internal and external clients with a view to extending the multidisciplinary skills of the business in general.
Provide consultancy in architectural and engineering acoustics at both strategic and detailed level

Experience
Considerable senior post graduate experience in Acoustic Consultancy within the Buildings sector
Experience of relevant legislation, standards and codes for both the UK and a wider international market would be expected.
Preferably experience of managing airport projects
Modelling experience with building acoustics and environmental noise tools
Ideally knowledge and experience of building services, environmental noise, building vibration, electro-acoustics and audio systems
Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills.
A proven track record in effective project and financial management
Ability to write fluent and intelligible reports, placing a high emphasis on accuracy
Strong project and people management skills are essential.

Examples of projects include road schemes, bridges, harbors, schools, sports stadia, offices, hotels, hospitals, tall buildings, buildings for performance, airports, convention centres and high quality residential.
