Senior/Principal Ornithologist

Position - Senior Ornithologist
Salary - Depending on Experience
Location - Edinburgh

Our client is currently in the market for an experienced Senior Ecologist, specialising in Ornithology to join their expanding, highly experienced environmental team in Edinburgh.

The role entails the candidate working mostly out on site undertaking various ornithological and ecological surveys in accordance to small- large scale renewable energy projects (Wind farms). As a result, demonstrable experience working with wind farm developments is essential.

It is vital that the candidate holds academic endeavours to at least degree level (MSc/ BSc) in a relevant discipline (Ecology/ Ornithology). The successful applicant should also be a full IEEM member and have a full UK clean driving license.

It is required that the ideal candidate should have an experienced ecological and ornithology background and hold previous expertise working for an environmental consultancy carrying out ornithological surveys and assessments in accordance to renewable energy projects (Wind farms).

Typical ornithological experience should include
- vantage point surveys
- common bird census surveys
- bat monitoring and survey work
- bird counts/ visual migration surveys

The applicant should also have a fundamental understanding of environmental impact assessment, project management and report writing.

Salary- £25,000- £30,000 (Negotiable on skills and experience)
