This is an exciting opportunity for strong leaders with expertise in the marine sector to manage a team within the MMO Marine Licensing function. Your team will focus on either RenewableRenewable Energy (Offshore Wind, Tidal, and Wave), Marine Aggregates, Ports, Nuclear Power or Marine Construction; one of the roles will also manage the Licensing Support Team .

About the role
Whichever team you head up, you will be responsible for the delivery of consents for marine development. As a senior decision maker and subject expert, you will maintain an overview of activity across your particular sector in order to provide high level advice, support and guidance to the wider MMO community.

Specific managerial duties will include directing and developing your team to ensure that services are of a consistently high level, that risk is handled effectively and that opportunities to improve approaches are identified and explored.

About you
We are looking for specialists who have a good knowledge of marine regulation and experience either in marine renewable energy, marine aggregates, ports, the marine aspects of nuclear power or general marine construction. This expertise could include that gained through degree study in a relevant area, such as engineering or marine sciences, or you may have experience that has equipped you with a high level of technical understanding.

Whatever your background and education, you must have the knowledge to confidently influence and advise colleagues, partners, stakeholders and government departments at all levels on senior management issues. Excellent standards of team leadership, communication and problem solving will also be important.

About MMO
The Marine Management Organisation is responsible for the majority of activities in English waters. We oversee marine planning to ensure the sustainable development of our coastal and offshore waters, monitor and control sea fishing activity, enforce marine legislation and licensing, and carry out projects that help to protect water environments.
